The amazing benefits of exercise!

We read, we talk and we think a lot about aging, and while no-one has yet found the perfect prevention potion, we do now have enough information about our body, health and skin to look as young as we possibly can.

Actually I don't want to talk about pills and potions today or even creams. I want to share with you one of my most powerful anti-aging tools--exercise.

I have just returned from my one hour walk so the benefits of exercising are really clear as I write!

Tomorrow it will be the half hour jog followed by a little (notice the little which really means not enough) stretching.

The thing about exercise it is not just great for you physically but it sets you up for the day mentally.

For me, it gives me time to think about what I need to do, in what order and how I can do it most effectively.

Equally it gives me time to notice the sunrise and to appreciate the environment around me. This makes me feel much happier, being connected to that environment.

Some days I meet with friends to walk, but most days I do it alone. I feel great while I exercise and after.

Sometimes getting out of bed is a challenge, particularly when the weather is bad, I have a way of managing that and that is to think about how I will feel walking back inside my door at the end of the walk or jog. I got this tip from an Olympic athlete many years ago and have found it extremely helpful.

  • Exercise is so good, for you the list is endless:-
  • Improves circulation (this in itself is so beneficial for your skin!)
  • Improves the flow of oxygen and energizes the brain and organs
  • Releases endorphins and serotonin which makes you feel happier
  • Reduces stress and consequently the chance of stroke
  • Helps you sleep better
  • Helps stimulate the production of growth hormones which enhances muscle and bone health
  • It does not need to cost a cent!

How can we resist exercise when it has all these benefits?

Here are some tips to make exercise simply part of your life

Don't over do it

Do it every day

Do exercise you enjoy

Meet with friends to do it

Honestly I can't think of a better and more cost effective way to stay fit and healthy.
